Ann Sieg blows the lid off Network Marketing! Lie Number two…

Filed under: Business Basics — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 1:42 pm

“It’s not selling, it’s sharing!”

If it’s not selling why do so many MLM/Network Marketing companies join the Direct Sales Association?

Ann suggests that the two major side effects of this approach is:

          (1) There’s a huge deficiency of proper sales training because if it’s not sales there’s no need for sales skills and

          (2) People are set up for failure because they are given false expectations of how easy it’s going to be.

Newbie distributors are in for a very rude awakening if they believe this lie and as a result will probable leave the business very soon after joining. The idea of ‘sharing’ is often spread because we know that most folk can’t sell and definitely don’t like to be sold to!

Fact: If you are in Network Marketing, you are in Sales!

Word of mouth advertising is the most powerful form of advertising - no argument there.

You see a great movie, discover a new restaurant you tell your friends about it and chances are they will check it out. You recommendation is powerful because you have nothing to gain by sharing these findings with your friends.

As soon as you bring money into the mix everything changes.

For starters you will not feel so comfortable and your friend will know the recommendation is biased and will smell a sales pitch a mile away!

As Ann says “The fact is, in Network Marketing you have now crossed over from the world of personal recommendation to the realm of direct sales. Don’t lei anyone tell you they are the same because they’re not!

Ann discusses this approach in more than three pages -if you would like to read the rest get the FREE ebook.

I know of only one MLM business in the UK where the first time you see a customer is when you deliver their order -the company has a catalogue of more than a thousand household products for sale. Take a look at www.thebestbiz.co.uk

Ann Sieg blows the lid off Network Marketing!

Filed under: Hints & Tips — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 1:52 pm

Has she gone too far this time?

Frustrated by her lack of success in building her MLM business despite following the advice of her Upline for some two years, Ann began to question that advice and came to the conclusion that most of what she was told was downright lies! Has she gone too far this time?

Some 90% plus on new joiners leave within 12 months of joining a network marketing business. Are these lies responsible for the terrible attrition in our business?

She identifies 7 Great Lies:-

Lie #1 - Everyone is your prospect!

Lie #2 - This really isn’t sales. We just share products with people.

Lie #3 - Anyone can do this!

Lie #4 - We’ll build your business for you.

Lie #5 - We have the best product ever!

Lie #6 - You just don’t have enough belief!

Lie #7 - The proven system.

**********************

Lie #1 - Everyone is your prospect!

Ann struggled to decide which was the worst lie and this one came as close as any for that accolade. You must have heard it said that ‘if they can fog a mirror’ they are a prospect!

As Ann Sieg says this insane belief has led to the ridiculous practices of the ‘3 Foot Rule’ and to pestering family and friends. My feeling is that it good practice to tell them what you are doing and leave it at that - if your friends and family want to know more , they will ask.

Don’t you just feel bad about having to approach everyone and anyone to join your business? Would you really want just anyone in your business? I sure don’t.

It just isn’t true that everyone is your prospect - some folk love their job and wouldn’t give it up for all the tea in China (that’s an old English expression, folks).

This approach does not project an image of Professionalism and it rarely does much good for your friendships.

An important point Ann Sieg makes is that No one is worth your time until they’ve shown an interest in what you’re offering and have asked for more information’

A final point Ann makes before I move on to Lie # 2 is

‘Who finds who first is very important’

 To quote Ann again

“When you go head hunting and chase your prospect, the whole operation is doomed to failure because you’re viewed as a nuisance! When they find you and seek you out, you’re viewed as an expert.

Tired Of The Old School Network Marketing Techniques?

Filed under: Lead Generation — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 4:31 pm

Are you tired of the old school network marketing techniques? You know the 3 foot rule, flyers, Excuse Me cards, bugging your family and friends, and holding Business Opportunity meetings.

I know that when I joined my first network marketing company, I was told to use these techniques as well as buy Names Lists to mail out flyers.  I was told to make a list of 100 people that I knew and basically call every one of them to ask and see if they would be interested in making some extra money. I was told stupid things like get 90 ‘No’s’ to get close to a ‘Yes’.

I was faced with nothing but rejection.

When I was avoided by just about everyone that I knew, all my upline told me to do was to go out and buy some opportunity leads. Leads which had probably been sold several times over to other networkers

This led me to more rejection and spending a bunch of money I didn’t have in the first place!  I was out of money, and had nothing to show for it.

Then just as I was going to give up, I found what I consider to be the “life saver” for my business.

This life saver I speak of was Mike Dillard’s 7 Day Free Video Boot Camp.

In these 7 free videos Mike explained how I could attract an endless stream of prospects to me ready to join and actually get paid to prospect.  His system is probably the best one available for generating MLM leads.

These videos have really changed the way I do my business, and I think they can help you too.

You can get free instant access to these videos here…

Enjoy,

Kleeneze - a unique MLM business

Filed under: Misc. — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 5:43 pm

I know you’ve heard it all before but just listen up for a moment or two.

Most MLM companies require you to either sell a product such as nutritional supplements or a service like telecoms; buy a shed load of product to start your business and perhaps commit to an auto-ship program to buy products for personal consumption on a monthly basis to ‘qualify’ for commission he/she hasn’t yet learned how to make!

Let’s look at these points in more detail.

  1. Who likes selling?  Who enjoys being pursued by someone attempting to sell you something?  It is said that perhaps less then 5% of the population can sell - that leaves a lot of people at a considerable disadvantage, trying to sell to people who don’t want to be sold to!
  2. How often have you heard stories of people who have left their Network marketing business with a shed load of product they couldn’t shift? It leaves a bad taste in the mouth and does no favour for the industry.
  3. Most Network Marketing companies selling nutritional products have a monthly auto-ship program which can cost anything up to £100/$200 -and you joined to make money!  If it were not for the auto-ship purchases by distributors I suspect many of such companies would be in dire financial problems.
  4. To make £5,000/$10,000 a month in most networks requires 100+ distributors. The DSA reckons that a distributor on average sponsors just two people into their business, so how can they ever hope to make serious money?

How would it be if none of these requirements existed? Is there a Network Marketing company that answer all these drawbacks? The answer is ‘Yes’.

That company is 85 years young and it’s called Kleeneze, sometimes known as the ‘Peoples franchise’. Let’s see how it addresses the point made above:-

  1. Kleeneze reps distribute a pack of catalogues containing over 1,000 household and Health & Beauty products to residents in their neighbourhood, collect them a couple of days later and good number will have orders.  At this point the rep has NOT even seen the customers!  That doesn’t happen until they deliver the purchase.  It is no exaggeration to say that to collect a £1,000 worth of orders every 4-weeks is very achievable by any brand new rep.  The catalogues do the selling!
  2. A Kleeneze rep is only required to purchase a Business Kit and catalogues to start their business.  They are NOT required to buy product as most are granted a credit account by the company with which to acquire customers’ products.
  3. A Kleeneze rep is not required to purchase product for personal consumption.
  4. (a) Approximately 50 active reps could generate an income in the order of £5,000 a month. (b) Kleeneze reps are no different to the average in terms of sponsoring new people into the business so to get 50 active reps is no easier than in any other network.  However, a Kleeneze distributor could still make £500 a month just working the catalogues and not introducing one person into their business!

And as to the compensation plan and incentives just take a look at this 15 minute video www.thebestbiz.co.uk/video

In MLM, it’s the system, stupid!

Filed under: Lead Generation — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 11:25 am

An excellent email I rec’d this morning from Stephen Pierce set the course for this piece - thanks Stephen!

He said that way back in 1992 when Bill Clinton was running for President against George Bush Snr, he uttered a phrase that was considered the key turning point for winning the election.

That phrase was “It’s the economy, stupid.”

So what has this got to do with Network Marketing or MLM Lead generation? Everything! Because the chances are your upline will be using a similar phrase when discussing how to build your business.

Have you guessed what it is yet? “It’s the system, stupid!”

What if the ’system’ is out of date?
So what does your system include?

Are you told to speak to friends & family, practice the 3foot Rule, advertise in the local paper, drop flyers, use business cards at every opportunity? OK, so far so good, but how well are they working at present? Is you business growing, is you Upline’s business growing? I’d be very surprised if the answer is a resounding ‘Yes’.

Apart from the friends & family advice the rest is very much ‘Cold Market’ and the cost of sponsoring a new rep in this market is ever spirilling upwards and will continue to do so, while the actual return and the ‘lifetime value’ of that rep continues to decline.

Expand your ’system’ or your business will die!

Unless you have been living in a cave for the last few years you cannot have missed the launch of the movie ‘The Secret’ which reminded the world of the ‘Law of Attraction’.

If your system does not include ‘attraction marketing’, your business will die - it’s as simple as that. I have written elsewhere at length about this elsewhere in this blog.

Notice i said ‘include’ which suggest coninuing to use the older cold market methods if they work for you. With the explosion of the Internet into business and personal life these last few years, not to include what they have to offer frankly is plain ’stupid’!

I would urge you to make use of the many Social websites to attract people to you and some of them my like what you have to say and may want to join you in your business.

Attraction Marketing in the Social Websites

The best advice any networker can follow to generate MLM leads is available from the likes of Mike Dilard of Magnetic Sponsoring and Building on a Budget and Ann Sieg of The Renegade Network Marketer.

Mike Klingler of the Renegade University has produced literally masses of click-by-click webinars which take you through every stage of setting up your exposure on the Internet using the tried and tested methods outlined by both Ann Sieg and Mike Dillard in their excellent books.

The way Mike Klingler has produced these webinars is such that even a complete beginner who doesn’t even know how to cut & paste, will be able to follow these tutorials!

Enjoy!

How to Manage information Overload

Filed under: Hints & Tips — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 12:10 pm

Do you remember the time before email and the Internet existed?  Possibly you are too young to know, but assuming my memory is not playing tricks on me I’m sure life was a little less hectic and pressured than it is today.

In the UK the Postman would deliver the mail in the early morning and if you were lucky you might have got another delivery in the afternoon.  You could count the number of letters on the fingers of one hand and as to unsolicited mail (spam) that went straight into the WPP without the danger of it corrupting your hard drive! - We just didn’t have hard drives to corrupt!  Aren’t I just showing my age!!!!

How different life is today!

Emails ping into your inbox throughout the day demanding immediate attention like a spoilt child!

If you have content on any of the Social Networks like Facebook or MySpace or content sharing sites such as digg.com or stumbleupon.com your email can mount up inexorably and leave you little time to attend to the important activities of the day.

So, how do you manage this activity? Well I can only tell you what I do and hope that you might find my ideas useful - working this plan means I can focus on the really important activities that I follow to make money on the internet.

It’s time for a spring clean of your email account.

  • Create several email accounts with different providers such as Google and Yahoo in addition to that provided by your ISP which you will perhaps consider as your primary email address
  • Use your primary email for important activities that may require your immediate attention such as from colleagues with whom you are working during the day and your immediate family.
  • Use the other accounts for your Internet sign-ups, perhaps one for your Social Network activity and the other for your Internet business connections such as affiliate programs.
  • Check these accounts twice a day unless you need to respond to an email conformations request.
  • Switch off email notification of new friends and shouts from your social sites and deal with these matters at a convenient time of the day and perhaps only once a day at that!
  • Delete emails as you read them unless they contain important information in which case create a folder within your email program.
  • Use you diary system to remind you to check your email folders once a month to empty the folders of emails that weren’t important after all!
  • Use a Spam Identifier such as MailWasher. This program identifies spam or suspect emails and allows you to delete them before they are downloaded onto you computer

Hope this helps someone.  And please add your comment and ideas too - thanks.

How to succeed in Network Marketing - Part Two - Sponsoring

Filed under: Lead Generation — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 5:56 pm

In the first part of this series about how to succeed in Network Marketing I looked at some statistics and a few reasons why people leave the business so quickly.Perhaps the biggest reason for people quitting so soon after joining an MLM business is what I call “Network Marketing Madness”.  Let’s first remind ourselves of one popular definition of madness “Madness is doing the same thing over and over expecting the outcome to be different”.

For years the drop out rate has been as high as 90% within the first 12 months of joining and yet the same old same old advice is handed out “Follow the system”.

I guarantee that the system was developed before the Internet took over the world just a few short years ago. The system, now referred to as ‘old school’ consisted of the 3-foot rule, business cards, distribution of flyers and leaflets, advertising in local or even national newspapers; purchasing leads from a variety of sources; placing posters and pestering family and friends.

Such a system has a massive built-in ‘rejection’ element which can quickly destroy the confidence of the new networker. Often the worst rejection can come from your friends and family!

If corporate world continued to follow a system with a built-in failure rate of 90% the world economy would be in chaos!  So it must surely be madness for networkers to continue to pursue such a system?

Now don’t get me wrong this ‘old school system’ still works for the few established networkers but obviously not for the 90% that quit!

What surprises and disappoints me is that those top earning distributors in many networks who continue to push the old system don’t seem to want to extend their sponsoring advice to include using the internet to generate leads.

Chances are they probably recommend that you purchase leads from Internet lead companies and in the same breath tell you that leads you might generate online yourself are rubbish!

Because they don’t seem to be open minded to new ideas they miss the most important piece of advice that people like Mike Dillard and Ann Sieg give which is to focus your efforts to attracting and helping those 90% of unhappy networkers!

Both Ann and Mike teach you how to do this whilst at the same time generating a source of income which you could plough back into your own primary network.

I’d advise everyone to invest some time and a little money to study their systems and then check in with the Renegade University  and follow their excellent webinars which enable you to follow click-by-click exactly how to put Mike and Anne’s programs into effect to build your business using the power of the internet.

Go take a look now.

Affirmations - Do they work?

Filed under: Hints & Tips — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 9:00 am

I have to admit I stole this post from Dawne’s blog - Dawne and I have lived together for 20 years this coming June, so I don’t think she will mind if I borrow her excellent Post.  You can see more by going directly to her blog at www.dawnekovan.com

****************************************************************

This is a question that everyone first asks when they look at affirmations. They say - how can they work - they’re only words? They say - it’s all just positive thinking for the chattering classes - rubbish! To be honest, I’ve heard them all and more - some too rude to write down here for your tender eyes.

So, let’s start by ascertaining what an Affirmation really is. The Concise Oxford Dictionary says: a statement of fact; a strong assertion. (Note the word “strong”, there). It is also a legal statement for those who do not wish to make a religious declaration in court, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. It seems that ANY statement we make strongly about ourselves as if it were true is an affirmation - and nowhere does the definition mention positive thinking!

How then do you use affirmations in your everyday life - and why would you? What will you gain from so doing? And more to the point - do they really work? I have to say that they very clearly DO work. All those negative, self-defeating statements that arise from your unconscious on an almost minute by minute basis are in reality Affirmations! Think about that - EVERYONE tells themselves things that prevent them from being as wonderful as they can be. And it’s all because of the little devil sitting on your shoulder drip feeding poison into your ears.

How to succeed in Network Marketing

Filed under: Lead Generation — BoostYourIncomeFireYourBoss @ 11:51 am

Sponsoring and Retention

Conquer these two tasks and you are on your way……..

So you’ve just joined a Network Marketing company and are excited about the prospect of being your own boss and making a good living, or perhaps a fortune even!

Some statistics

It is said that up to 80% of newbies quit the business in there first 90 days and this climbs to 90% by the end of the first year!  It is also said by no less an organisation than the DSA that a distributor only ever sponsors on average two people into their network!

Another statistics suggests that less then 5% of any population are true sales people - so most people can’t sell and most of us don’t like being sold to! Yet most networkers are expected to go out and sell their company products - which can often be products most folk don’t want to buy in the first place - like nutritional supplements.

With statistic like these it would appear that the odds are stacked against most people making a success of Network Marketing!

Why the high drop out rate?

  1. Most people joining an MLM company do so to make an extra income yet with most networks they soon discover that there are ongoing costs they didn’t bargain for.
  2. One such cost is the Auto-ship program - so many MLM companies insist upon their distributors buying the company products to ‘qualify’ for commissions - when the real reason is that the MLM company probably couldn’t exist with true customer orders alone!  Take away the distributor auto-ship orders and what would the company sales look like then?
  3. Desire for instant gratification or unreasonable expectations are another cause for drop outs - newbies fail to realise and the sponsoring distributor fails to advise that network marketing is a business that needs to be understood.
  4. Experienced networkers know better than to ‘sell’ their opportunity on the promise of big easy earnings - they know full well that big earnings require massive action.  Sadly, not all distributors make this clear.
  5. Too few newbies are prepared to educate themselves - they need to go to meetings, buy books, DVD’s and CD’s to educate themselves about the business of network marketing. Just as in the corporate world where CPD (Continuous Professional Development) is the norm, so it is with Network Marketing.  Some suggested reading is listed below.

Look out for the next Post when I shall look at ways to generate leads for your MLM business. Here are a few books you might read:-
